This location is near the Town Center at Boca Raton.  From I95 heading west, south (left) on Saint Andrews, Maggiano's is on left on entry drive to Town Center.

4-29-19 Club Structure - Jerry Leitherer
During our meeting Monday April 29, 2019 we expect to hear Jerry Leitherer tell us about the structure and operation of Rotary Boca Raton Sunset and its corporations.
Jerry provided a visual presentation beginning with a review of our basic composition, objective, and purpose; then highlighted how these club characteristics matched Rotary club composition, objective, and purpose.  With that as a base he reminded us how our Rotary club was formed and chartered in June 1996, citing the key initiative of charter member PDG Steve Laine then District 6930 Governor.  We currently have two charter members: PDG Steve Laine and Sergeant at Arms Steve Perman.
Continuing, jerry reviewed the Rotary International organization structure, indicating more than 35,000 clubs are governed via 34 zones, and our Zone 34 has 41 districts, our District 6930 has 48 clubs divided into 9 areas, and our Area 1 has 6 clubs, all located in Boca Raton.  Authority to identify as Rotary Club of Boa Raton Sunset is granted by Rotary International, and issuance and maintenance of the image and values are governed through District 6930 Area 1 administration using the club charter requiring compliance with model constitutions and bylaws adopted and maintained by members of the Rotary Boca Raton Sunset.
Reviewing some of the elements of our club Constitution and Bylaws, Jerry explained how flexibility in the RI model for club constitution and bylaws allow our club to be unique with our own character and local interest yet be consistent with the image and values of more than 35,000 other Rotary clubs around the globe.  That characteristic allows us to accomplish our club objectives locally as well as in other parts of the world.  For example we recently participated with another club in France to send water filter systems to Nepal villages., and RI provided support for our local fundraising half marathon event last fall to raise money for Boca Raton Police Athletic League an other club projects like sending an FAU HS student to the Model United Nations conference in Philadelphia during this past spring.
Jerry is the club Secretary and has served in that capacity since 2012.  Jerry is retired, having served the computer industry for more than 40 years in a variety of capacities from field service to super computing architecture and development.
